During inspection of the Melbourne CBD building, sand stone and granite pillars were found to be partially detached from the building's facade. To ensure the safety of passers-by below, the Absafe team used rope access via twin rope systems to remove all spalled or delaminated concrete that may pose a fall hazard and Installed custom wrought iron brackets to keep the pillars secured.

Absafe was the first company to use rope access techniques at the Cement Australia plant in Railton, and the first to carry out thickness testing and clean build-up on the plant's internal silos. Since then our team has conducted a number of internal clean outs of the cement silos in Tasmania.

Absafe performed major maintenance work on the chimney's exterior, including applying protective mesh overlays, designing and upgrading gantries, installing access systems, retrieving concrete core samples and concrete repairs.

This six week job on the Gipps Street Footbridge used advanced rigging and encapsulation techniques to conduct structural improvements, industrial coatings and concrete repairs due to the signs of corrosion at the node junctions, bolt penetrations and I-beam surface. The use of rope access resulted in substantial cost savings with minimal disruption to the foot bridge.

The external coating of the Melbourne CBD building was in poor condition and it was unknown when the building had previously been painted. Absafe conducted works on the façade of the building including painting and concrete repairs, waterproofing, re-pointing and Helifix crack repairs.

The main building fronting Collins Street was originally constructed in 1929 with further additions in Elizabeth Street completed in 1935. Due to the deterioration of the exterior coating of the budiling, Absafe conducted concrete and render repair, steel preparation and coatings, anchor installation, certification and inspections as well as pressure cleaning and the priming and painting of the entire facade.

The iconic Melburnian apartments in Melbourne CBD required remediation of the I-beams at the leading edge of most apartment's balconies on the Garden & Grant Street tower apartments. Using rope access, was a cost effective and efficient alternative to scaffolding, minimising tenant disturbance & access issues. The leading edge balcony I-beams were showing signs of rust. Investigations showed a construction phase design fault.

Absafe conducted maintenance to the damaged façades of the Melbourne CBD buildings located at 2 and 50 Lonsdale Street. These included various repairs to concrete, steel items, aluminium extrusion, waterproof membrane between slabs, windows and seals.

Loy Yang is a base load supply station, and produces about one third of Victoria's electricity requirements. To excuted works, Absafe installed swing stage support frames to conduct emergency make safe to spalling concrete by means of helicopter exits. Other works include painting, welding, internal duct inspections and structural brace repairs.

These works conducted on the Hazelwood Power Station were the first time in Australia that shotcreting was used at this height. Custom engineered winches and davits used for materials handling and the Absafe team safely removed and repaired up to 44m2 of delaminated and spalled concrete via rope access.
